ABOUT SHORECREST

Shorecrest is a development of 115 homes on Hempstead Harbor at the western edge of Glen Cove, New York. When the area was developed in 1955, the Elsinore Property Owners' Association was formed and land that was for the use of residents was deeded by the developer to the Association.

The Association owns, maintains, and pays taxes on over four acres of communal land throughout Shorecrest:

  • The beach & patio at the foot of Woodland Road; an 800 square-foot patio with stairs to 150 feet of private beach.

  • The overlook; open grass above the beach & patio with sweeping views of Hempstead Harbor.

  • The "Playstead" between Northfield, Southfield, and Sycamore Roads; an acre of undeveloped wooded land.

  • The "Triangle" island between Northfield, Southfield Roads, and Dorset Way; 1/3 acre of open grass with mature maintained trees and shrubs.

  • The "Circle" island between Northfield Road and Garden Place.

  • The "Welcome" island intersections at the end of Woodland Road, at the western end of Northfield and Southfield Road, at Northfield Road and Berry Lane, and at Northfield Road and Dorset Way.

The Elsinore Property Owners' Association sponsors a community picnic at the beach & patio every summer and holds a public meeting for all Shorecrest residents once a year at the Glen Cove Public Library.

THE BEACH

Shorecrest residents are lucky to have a beautiful private beach and patio at the foot of Woodland Road: a great place to relax and enjoy the water.

There are no lifeguards, so please swim at your own risk and keep an eye on children.

To keep the beach clean and enjoyable for everyone, please:

  • Use the garbage cans provided

  • Tie and carry full bags up to the street

  • Place them by the fire hydrant for pickup

This is our shared space—thank you for helping keep it clean and welcoming for everyone.

COMMITMENT

Shorecrest belongs to us all; we all own and are collectively responsible for maintaining, insuring, and paying taxes on the communal properties. If these areas are not maintained, properly insured, and if the taxes are not paid, we risk losing them . Association dues are $200 per household each year.

Our elected officers and board members work year-round to manage the budget, website, taxes, insurance coverage, and address community concerns, as well as the ongoing upkeep of our shared property and amenities, including, but not limited to:

  • The seawall, stairs, kayak rack, patio, grill, shower, benches, picnic tables.

  • Lawn mowing & leaf cleanup.

  • Tree & shrub maintenance.
